Gotham Knights Nightwing

Gotham Knights turns Nightwing into DC’s vulture

When the teaser for the long-awaited Gotham Knights fell, fans were eager to see gameplay action. Many wanted to see how this new action RPG from WB Games Montréal would compare to the Batman: Arkham series, which to this day remains the gold standard for any Batman-related video game.

Fortunately, a clip has been released that lasts more than 13 minutes, detailing the open world Gotham and what Bruce Wayne’s protégés would do after his death. Fans learned more about their new base, the Belfryhow they dealt with it, and gained insight into the field† In the process, the video confirmed that Nightwing will essentially be the DC version of the Vulture.

In the Marvel universe, Adrian Toomes and others who wore the Vulture cloak relied on robotic wings to move. In Gotham Knights, Dick Grayson will use technology similar to Toomes, particularly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the Fast Bat, which let Nightwing fly through the city at high speed. The design has also been modified in several ways Spider Man cartoons, but while they felt cheesy, Dick’s clean design gives it a more modern look as a military application.

However, it is not made for stealth, but for speed, which Nightwing needs in a Gotham overrun by criminals. Now that Jim Gordon is dead too and the Court of Owls is on the rise, Dick will have to make ends meet faster. While he might compromise his black-ops style for something noisier, he’s much more efficient. It remains to be seen if he’ll have weapons like lasers or rocket launchers in him, but since Dick is adamant that his group of vigilantes will need a tough arsenal, it’s easy to see the Vulture-like setup being retrofitted to wage war. to be a machine with influences from the Batwing present.

In addition, Dick can move around with a glider known as the Flying Trapeze. This isn’t like the Fast Bat in that they aren’t attached to Nightwing’s back, but Dick does have that Vulture feel in how he clings to them as he hides around town. This hover is quieter, so it’s the kind of secrecy that Dick often uses instead of roaring rockets and engines.

Fans have pointed out that his hands can get tired and this seems impractical, but Dick is one of the strongest DC heroes ever. Plus, he has his circus background — so the name of the tool. In the end, the principle is the same, with a bird-themed hero in the skies of Gotham looking to protect people rather than rob them. Granted, Nightwing could have had simpler, more compact wings, like in the 90s animated series, but while these are bulkier, like the Batcycle they add drama† In general they give an intimidating presence in a game that promises plenty of intense, high-octane action.
