IKEA launches DIRIGERA the Matter ready hub for smart products and a new IKEA Home smart app

The next step on the journey to enable a better everyday life for the many people and a smarter life is the launch of the Matter Ready hub for smart products DIRIGERA. With its new software, DIRIGERA is built to: process more product segments and have more products on board than the existing TRÅDFRI gateway. It also makes the new and more user-friendly IKEA Home smart app.

“With DIRIGERA and the new app, we focused on strengthening and simplifying the onboarding process when connecting new smart products to the smart home. We have also added personalization options, such as creating different scenes with pre-set functions of the smart products for all your different activities and moments in the home,” says Rebecca Töreman, Business Leader at IKEA of Sweden.

“Thanks to the user feedback we have received since the launch of the TRÅDFRI gateway in 2014, we can continue to combine technology with simplicity and accessibility and take our home furnishing expertise into the future,” she continues.

The new IKEA Home smart app will be convenient, easy to navigate and easy to use to lower the barrier for people who want to set up a smart home. In addition, connecting devices to the DIRIGERA hub becomes significantly easier.

With the new DIRIGERA smart products hub, users can add all IKEA smart products to the system and send them individually, in sets or in groups in the new IKEA Home smart app. This allows users to create different scenes with preset functions of the smart products and expands the personalization possibilities for the smart home.

“In recent years, we have seen an increasing interest in the home, especially the smart home. Digital solutions and technology have become natural ingredients in our daily lives and now in our homes. The smart home is an evolution of the home you already love and live in. IKEA’s wide range of smart products is in the fields of sound, light, air purification, blinds and much more in the future,” says Björn Block, Business Area Manager at IKEA of Sweden.

DIRIGERA and the new IKEA Home smart app are scheduled to launch in October 2022. Users can continue to use the TRÅDFRI gateway and the current app, and IKEA smart products already purchased can be connected to and work equally well with the DIRIGERA hub. In addition, IKEA plans to launch the outdoor access functionality in the first half of 2023.
