Courtney Love was seen on camera expressing her opinion about Johnny Depp, but now she says it was never intended for public consumption.
Courtney Love backs out after weighing in on Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation lawsuit. Love has claimed that a number of videos in which she commented on the public trial appeared to be “accidentally” leaked online.
“I was engaged in expressing thoughts online. The platform accidentally posted a story I didn’t want to make public (I’m sure it wasn’t intentional) in I’m arming snark (what else are we supposed to do with snark?)
“Was it my own (admittedly, huge, a character flaw, ego?) Was it a genuine expression of support for someone who was a wondrous presence in our lives?
“Is it ONE OF MY F***ING BUSINESS? New.”
Love added: “What about the times I’ve been publicly vilified? My real friends have done so much to help me through these public ritualistic systemic humiliations?”
Love went on to write: “I certainly don’t always do the right thing”, adding: “I want to support a friend neutrally. I don’t want to bully. I’ve been bullied enough. I didn’t want to express my own bias/internalized mysoginia [sic]†
“I don’t want to have anything to do with contributing to more online bullying for someone who is being bullied like no one has ever been online. Someday,” the musician continued later.
“In my recovery program, ‘when we were wrong, we admitted it right away,’ I was wrong,” Kurt Cobain’s widow added to her face.
“The only major takeaway from what has been posted is that I have said we should all stop having fun with claims fraud [sic]’ (look it up: ‘Delight in else’s down fall’) & show genuine empathy for both parties,” Love concluded. “If I have hurt anyone, please accept my making amends. Back to my offline life.”
What Courtney Said About Johnny Depp
Love’s first comments about the Depp-Heard trial were heard in a series of videos in which Love reportedly said, “I don’t really want to judge in public. I just want to tell you that. Johnny gave me CPR in 1995 when I overdosed outside the Viper Room.”
Once co-owned by Depp, the intimate Viper Room is known for hosting some of the most influential acts in the business who have played the venue. The West Hollywood establishment recently announced it would be closing after more than 35 years.
“Johnny, when I was on crack and… [daughter] Frances [Bean Cobain] had to suffer from all those social workers, wrote her a four-page letter on her 13th birthday that she never showed me,” Love continued.
She reportedly insisted that Depp often “send limos” to Cobain’s school “where all the social workers crawled around — again, unsolicited — for her and all her friends to go to both. pirates [of the Caribbean movies]†
“He did it a few times. He gave her her own seat [at the premieres] with her name on it,” Love explained.
“I’ve never seen one” pirates movies, but [Frances] loved them. You know, she said to me when she was 13, ‘Mommy, he saved my life.’ And she said it again.”
In her videos, Love is said to have said she knows what it feels like to be “the most hated woman in America” and “the world” and sympathizes with Heard, 36, for what the actress is going through.
Heard is fighting a high-profile lawsuit brought by Depp’s defamation claims that came after she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 claimed she was the victim of domestic and emotional abuse.
Although Heard didn’t name Depp as her abuser, she detailed allegations from her time in marriage to the Edward Scissorhands actor.
“But if you use a movement for your own personal gain and you inhabit queer feminist intersectional spaces and you abuse that moment, then I hope justice is served, whatever it is,” Love reportedly said. “And I think we need to have less gloating and more empathy for everyone involved.”
Depp and Heard first met in 2009, but would only get together romantically after breaking up with their respective partners in 2012. The two became engaged in 2014 and married in 2015 before splitting up the following year after just 15 months of marriage.
