Moss ruins Heard’s chances in just 4 minutes

One of the most anticipated moments of the Johnny Depp case was also the fastest with model Kate Moss blowing a hole in Ambers Heard’s case.

Kate Moss flatly denied that Johnny Depp pushed her down a flight of stairs – a rumor spread by Amber Heard – as she testified at the star-studded defamation trial today.

In what could be the shortest testimony to the Depp v Heard trial — and could be the most damaging to Heard — supermodel Moss took the stand on Wednesday.

The star’s testimony lasted four minutes, during which she denied a rumor, put forward in court by Heard, that Depp had thrown the model down a flight of stairs while the former couple was on vacation in Jamaica.

It is the first time Moss has discussed the allegations.

Moss’s denial that she was assaulted diminishes Heard’s legal team’s ability to display Depp’s pattern of domestic violence behavior.

Heard is being sued by Depp for $50 million ($A67 million) for suggesting he killed her in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Though she hasn’t named him, he claims her accusations are false and cost him lucrative movie roles.

Heard has filed a counter-charge, asking for $100 million ($A134 million) and alleging she had suffered “rampant physical assault and abuse” at his hands, but was vilified when she was alleged to have fabricated the charges.

Heard . own goal

Moss would never be called to the stands.

But earlier in the trial, Depp’s lawyers were celebrating when Heard suddenly brought up Moss during her testimony.

Heard told the court about an alleged 2015 brawl between Depp and her sister Whitney Henriquez, which took place near a staircase. Heard said she hit Depp because she was afraid he might have pushed her sister down the stairs.

Heard added that she immediately thought of “Kate Moss and the stairs”.

Those five words referred to a rumored – but never confirmed – incident.

In Depp’s 2020 UK defamation trial, Heard also brought up the alleged incident, saying she had “heard” Moss had been pushed down a flight of stairs.

Conduct that is not related to the case in question should generally not be brought in by lawyers because it is not relevant. But Heard the incident came up of his own accord, had given Depp the opportunity to call Moss as a witness to address the allegation, the New York Post

Despite their breakup, it was thought that Depp and Moss were still on good terms.

Moss questioned about alleged stair incident

Moss appeared via video link from Gloucestershire in the South West of England.

Asked by Depp’s team, she said she was in a relationship with the… pirates of the caribbean star from 1993 to 1998.

Depp’s attorney Benjamin Chew asked Moss about the events that took place at the Golden Eye resort in Jamaica.

“We left the room and Johnny left the room before I did,” Moss said.

“There had been a rain shower. And when I left the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back.

“I screamed because I was in pain and I didn’t know what had happened to me and he came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical help,” she added.

“Did Mr. Depp push you down the stairs in any way or during your relationship?” asked Mr. Chew.

“No. He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down a flight of stairs.”

It was an unequivocal response that will cheer Depp’s team.

Depp’s lawyers tried to continue questioning Moss, but a lengthy discussion between the judge and opposing legal teams seemed to limit what events Moss could talk about beforehand.

Heard’s team declined to investigate Moss, meaning the model’s full testimony lasted just four minutes. Four minutes that didn’t help Heard’s chance of success.

The trial continues today and Depp’s team is calling a slew of witnesses to refute some of the allegations made by Heard’s lawyers. It is possible that Depp himself will take the stand again on Wednesday.
