With the Season of the Haunted† Lot 2 bring some back excellent Guns of the Past: Season of Opulence weapons released way back in 2019. You can find weapons like the Austringer Hand Cannon and the beloved sniper rifle aboard the Derelict Leviathan – rifles first made available in the Menagerie activity, and now even better. But it’s not quite clear how you can earn them.
As in other seasons, you can get luscious weapons through seasonal rewards or by tuning Umbral Engrams to the Crown of Sorrow at the HELM. However, the new tuning system can be a bit hard to understand, and the game is a bit obtuse about where Opulent weapons come naturally. Here’s everything you need to know to get new luscious weapons: Austringer, Beloved, Calus Minitool, and Drang (Baroque)
Where to get lavish weapons
Lush weapons drop from activities completed on the Derelict Leviathan. The best way to get random Opulent drops is from the Nightmare Restrictive Activity, and to gain full access to that, you’ll need to complete the Operation: Midas mission that kicks off the season of the Haunted. But completing the Containment activity itself isn’t really the best way to get the guns you want; you’ll want to collect Vestiges of Dread to guarantee more seasonal rewards.
Remains of Dread are the new currency of the season of the Haunted. You can earn it by doing just about everything in the game, including ritual playlist activities like Strikes, Crucible matches, and Gambit matches, as well as completing patrols and public events aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Your Vestige gains are also increased when you wear Season of the Haunted’s gear set, Eidolon Pursuant.
You can spend your Vestiges of Dread at the end of the Nightmare Containment – Tier 3 public event aboard the Derelict Leviathan. You’ll need 500 Vestiges to turn them in, which you do at the glowing red Nightmare Harvester scepter used to trigger the event. This is the best way to get random Opulent weapon drops, but they are random – you are not guaranteed to get Opulent weapons, but they are included in the loot pool along with Haunted weapons and seasonal gear. So you want to make sure you have plenty of Vestiges on hand so you can always redeem them at the end of the activity.
Nightmare Containment is generally a little less reliable for Opulent weapons than completing the Sever mission every week, but there are fewer chances of getting them here. This story mission becomes available as you progress through the Bound in Sorrow quest. When you complete the Sever mission, you will earn a “Bound Presence”, which you can then redeem at a nearby loot chest. Trading in the bound presence will earn you a number of rewards, including seasonal weapons and armor, some of which can be lavish weapons.
There’s also a chance for lavish weapons (and other seasonal gear) to fall from the lavish chests scattered around the Leviathan. You’ll need an Opulent Key to find and open these chests, the first of which can be earned through the mission The Leviathan Returns. Each luscious key unlocks a specific chest, clues about its location are listed on the key when you select it from your inventory. Opening a luscious chest doesn’t guarantee lavish weapon rewards like all these other activities, but they are in the loot pool as possible drops.
How to Unlock Opulent Weapon Tuning
The best way to reliably get Austringer, Beloved, and the rest of the re-released Season of Opulence weapons is to match your Umbral Engrams for them at the Crown of Sorrow in the HELMET. To do that, however, you have another type of currency, Opulent Umbral Energy, as well as Umbral Engrams, and upgrades to the Crown of Sorrow.

First, the Crown upgrades. Like other seasonal sellers, you need to rank with the seasonal activity, complete seasonal challenges, and complete weekly seasonal story missions to increase the Crown’s abilities. Doing so will earn you Figments of Darkness, which you can then spend on the Crown of Sorrow to unlock new abilities for the season, including the ability to align your Umbral Engrams with Lush weapons, Haunted weapons, and high stat seasonal gear.
You get one Figment of Darkness each week for completing the Sever mission, and you can earn more Figments by completing Seasonal Challenges; there is one available in this first week. You can also earn three Figments of Darkness as you increase your Crown Influence rank by completing Crown of Sorrow bounties, taking on the Nightmare Containment activity, completing patrols, and finding Preserved Eregore pickups on the Derelict Leviathan. Figment of Darkness rewards come at rank 4, rank 10, and rank 16.
You can unlock Opulent weapon tuning for the Crown of Sorrow on the Manifest track, but there’s an additional requirement: you’ll need to unlock four other upgrades first. That means you either need to earn all available Figments by increasing your Crown Influence Rank to 16, complete the Seasonal Challenge and complete the weekly Sever quest, or wait at least another week for additional opportunities to earn Figments .
once you to do To unlock Opulent weapon tuning, you need a currency called Opulent Umbral Energy. You can earn this in the same places as Opulent weapon drops: by spending Vestiges or Dread on Nightmare Containment activities, with the Sever activity, and especially with Opulent Chests. An unfocused Lush weapon Engram, which gives any Lush weapon, costs 7 Lush Umbral energy; focusing on a specific weapon, such as Austringer, will give you 27 Opulent Umbral Energy.
