Outrage when Disney employee ruins proposal

A Disneyland employee is caught on video interrupting a couple’s marriage proposal in an unforgettable moment, but for all the wrong reasons.

A theme park employee has earned the ire of the internet after interrupting a proposal at Disneyland Paris.

A video shared by the couple’s best friend shows a man getting down on his knee as he takes a ring box from his pocket. In the background is the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle from the movie franchise.

However, the moment is interrupted by the Disneyland employee who runs into the frame and grabs the ring box from the man’s hand. He then runs down the stairs and orders the couple to follow him.

While this is happening, the woman can be seen clapping her hands over her mouth in shock.

The man then tries to intervene and says that he had permission to propose to his partner.

“Yes, but it gets even better here,” you hear the employee say as he leads the couple down the stairs.

Also in the corner of the video is another staff member gesturing to the couple and asking them to go downstairs.

In the comments of the Reddit post — where the video was originally shared — users lashed out at the Disneyland employee for his hiatus.

“He didn’t just gesture it down, the employee snatched the wedding ring from his hands. That’s pretty high on my list of things not to touch,” one comment read.

“Trying to find out if dude was happier enforcing rules or ruining a moment. He was justifiably happier for ruining the moment,” wrote another.

A third wrote: “Grabbing the ring was insane and across any acceptable line. My wife’s wedding ring is one of the most expensive things we own and if someone had snatched it from my hands when I first gave it to her, I have become ballistic.”

The theme park has also apologized to the couple.

In a comment to news weeka Disney spokesperson said they “regret how this was handled”.

“We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right,” they said.

In September 2020, the tried and true Disneyland proposal was mocked as “cheesy” and “unoriginal” in a viral Facebook post.

Shared to a Facebook group called That’s It I’m Proposal Shaming, it featured a photo of a Disneyland proposal, with another man also on one knee in the background.

The photo was shared with the caption: “When you get the best seat so the guy in the back has to introduce you to a couch.”

More than 2,000 people commented on the snap, with one person saying, “If I was the guy in the back, I’d pick a different place.”

Another commented: “If you’re going to get engaged at Disney, at least pick a place that’s not so common”.
