Former MAFS participant Domenica Calarco has gone public with a diagnosis she received after her tumultuous time in the experiment.
Married At First Sight star Domenica Calarco has revealed she was being treated for PTSD following her time on the Channel 9 reality show.
Dom, 28, and good friend of the experiment Ella Ding, 27, launched the first episode of their podcast today, Sit with usin which the pair discuss their reality TV stint and the media attention they’ve received since then.
Touching her constant bauble with fellow bride Olivia FrazerDom said that in the months after filming, she would panic sitting down with a group of people after experiencing multiple fiery dinner parties on the show, which her therapist described as having PTSD.
Her reveal came during a segment on the podcast called “headline bingo,” in which the pair dissected articles about them.
The headline in question was from a Daily mail story, “Feuding” Married at first sight brides Domenica Calarco and Olivia Frazer offered a lot of money to fight it out in the boxing ring,” which Dom quickly claimed was not true.
“Number one, it says we were offered $30,000,” she began, sledging her MAFS nemesis Olivia.
“Mate, you’d need a lot more for me to take even an ounce of brain power to think about that, but that’s absolutely wrong. I don’t want to be in the same room as her, let alone in a boxing ring.”
Ella joined in, ‘Can you imagine? That would be scary… She’d give you the scary eyes,” to which Dom agreed that she was “afraid” of Olivia.
“I get really scared when I see a picture of her… It evokes PTSD of her sitting across from me.
“Like legit, for a while after that MAFSsitting at a table that looked like a dinner table or a table where i was supposed to have a conversation i would rightly panic because i would be like ‘Who’s going to start sh*t, who’s going to say something’,” she said, pulling on it adding that her therapist told her it was a trauma response to the experience.
“I had PTSD completely. My therapist says I’m going through PTSD completely, so it’s real.”
