Prince Harry may have announced his sensational departure as senior royal in 2020, but it seems the monarchy hasn’t really lost hope of his return.
According to royal biographer Tina Brown, Prince Charles and Prince William have been tipped off to welcome the Duke of Sussex again as soon as the Queen is no longer on the throne.
The Palace papers author said Harry will be much needed to help carry the workload when Charles becomes king as the number of working royals has dwindled rapidly.

“It looks a bit skeletal as they weren’t supposed to lose Andrew or Harry, so a bit of an issue [is the] slimmed-down monarchy right now,” Brown told The guards podcast ‘Today in the picture’.
“I think a lot of effort goes into trying to get everyone to focus on the heir, Charles, and William and Kate. But there’s a lot of pressure on that.”
Brown says the Duke and… Duchess of Cambridge have the responsibility of carrying the monarchy on their shoulders and feel “excessive pressure”.
The loss of not only Prince Harry, but also the Duke of York from the lineup has resulted in a much smaller circle of senior royals rushing to commit to every official task, Brown claims.
“I think there is excessive pressure on the Cambridges at the moment to essentially take the backlog for both Harry and Andrew,” she added.
“And I really think they’re going to need Harry back at some point, especially probably after the Queen dies, because he was an asset.”

Last year, unconfirmed reports emerged that the Prince of Wales… looking for “slimming down” the monarchy once he is crowned king.
There has also been speculation that William and Kate hope to “modernize” the royal family for the new era.
“William and Kate will modernize their way of working. It’s a breath of fresh air,” a royal source said The sun.
“They’re trying to figure out what that’s going to look like. It’s not a criticism of how it’s been done in the past. But times are changing.”
Brown says Harry has always been part of Charles’ vision for a leaner future monarchy and there are plans to welcome him back to his rightful position as senior royal.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 after declaring they want to be financially independent.

In 2019, it was announced that Prince Andrew would step down from his public duties following accusations from Virginia Giuffre.
In another interview with the financial times, Brown said Harry’s upcoming memoir remains a point of tension among the royals.
She said Harry’s issues with Camilla in particular will come to light in the upcoming book.
“That book is one of their biggest concerns in the House of Windsor right now. It hangs over them, a sword of Damocles, because they don’t know what’s in this book,” Brown said.
“If this comes at them and again, [Camilla] has been cast as a villain, I think it will be very difficult.”
