Last month, pirates of the caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer said it was “unlikely” that Depp would ever return to his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a potential sixth film in the franchise.
“Not at the moment,” he said when asked about Depp. “The future has yet to be decided.”
This week, however, a former Disney executive said they believed Depp could make a comeback.
“I absolutely believe that after the statement that” pirates is ready to reboot with Johnny as Capt Jack back on board,” they told People magazine†
“There’s just too much potential blockbuster for a much-loved character who is deeply entrenched in Disney culture.”
Depp hasn’t played the reckless Sparrow since 2017, when he starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales†
The five movies in the pirates franchise starring Depp has brought in more than $4.5 billion worldwide.
