Dead Island 2 Hopefuls Get Played By Goat Simulator 3 Parody Trailer

Dead Island 2 Hopefuls is played by Goat Simulator 3 Parody Trailer

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest ended with a bit of a pop yesterday. There were some interesting announcementsincluding a June 16 release date for: TMNT: Shredder’s Revengebut The Geoffening was mostly overshadowed by the smaller Day of the Devs presentation that immediately followed. Still, Keigh3 – or whatever we call it – had a reveal that was both confusing and hilarious. It was for Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator 3who recreated a zombified Dead Island 2 trailer to literally troll anyone watching the broadcast. Again.

Originally released in April 2014, Goat Simulator is a crazy physics-based third-party action game where you control a goat and destroy the inhabitants of the game world. It’s insane in the best possible way: a meme game that lets you stretch the goat’s limbs or tie a jetpack on its back or any number of other stupidly insane shenanigans. The game has been ported to just about every console, but only got a direct sequel to Hot Geoff Summer, where Coffee Stain skipped a second entry for Goat Simulator 3

The world premiere trailer in front of Goat Simulator 3 – seriously, what happened to? Goat Simulator 2† — opened with Geoff standing on a digitized beach saying this is a “sequel we’ve all been looking forward to for a long time.” Before heading to the reveal, he made a few more misleading statements, claiming that we “don’t want to get bitten” and that we finally have an update after “many years of rumours.” Geoff then went to the game trailer, which showed a runner in white jogging briskly on a very sunny boardwalk. He turned his music up and stretched before starting. He pointed to a woman skating, who gave him the thumbs down before he was headbutted by a goat. He even kept running, completely oblivious to the chaos around him.

Like, come on. This is the Dead Island 2 trailer from hella long ago. In case you forgot, Deep Silver unveiled the highly anticipated zombie survival sequel during Sony’s E3 2014 presentation. The trailer is much the same, featuring a runner in all-white jogging on what appears to be California’s Santa Monica Pier. He has clearly been bitten by a zombie and chooses to spend his last moments running until the infection catches up with him. The trailer ends with the runner jogging alongside a horde of zombies before getting splashed.

People fell for it unfortunately Goat Simulator 3is trolling. As the Summer Game Fest livestream took place, many took to social media to express excitement at the thought of Dead Island 2 finally a comeback after nearly a decade of absence only to let that hype turn to dismay. Some praised Coffee Stain Studios for the “divine” ace-and-switch while others were very disappointed to learn It was not Dead Island 2

Kotaku contacted Coffee Stain and Deep Silver for comment.

This isn’t the first time Coffee Stain Studios has copied a Dead Island trailer neither. When Goat Simulator was first released, the developer dropped a launch video that parodied the OG Dead Islandannouncement trailer† It featured slow-motion gameplay footage of a goat crashing through a building after being catapulted out of an exploding gas station. It seems to me that Coffee Stain is not only playing us, but also Deep Silver, since Dead Island 2‘s development was so precarious it has switched studios a few times al. Deep Silver has been relatively quiet regarding the highly anticipated zombie survival game, so maybe Coffee Stain is equally curious about it. Evidently, Dead Island 2is still under development† Could be.

Goat Simulator 3 launches this fall on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox Series systems. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about Dead Island 2
