To complete the Carian Study Hall location in Elden Ring, you must meet Ranni the Witch and agree to work for her.
If you’ve been to the Carian Study Hall in Elden Ring, you’ve probably noticed that this dungeon has more to offer than meets the eye. Before you can complete it, you must first meet Ranni the witch and agree to work for her.
Elden Ring: How to Find Three Sisters
Working for Ranni includes finding her tower in the northwest of Liurnia. You must have defeated Radahn in Caelid and made it through Caria Manor by beating Royal Knight Loretta. Out there are the Three Sisters, Ranni’s rise among them.
Elden Ring: How to Find the Eternal City of Nokron
With Starscourge Radahn defeated, head to the Mistwood Outskirts and see evidence of the comet falling from the sky. Go down and you’ll end up in Nokron Eternal City.
Keep going and there will be a fight against a mimic version of yourself spawned from the Mimic Tear Boss. Beyond that, stay on the left for a grace. A quick trip through the buildings and you’re in Night’s Sacred Ground.
Once Blob lives have ended, you can use a Stonesward Key to enter a dungeon with the Mimic Tear Ashes, a ridiculously powerful summon. In the next area, you must defeat a live boulder before it rolls you flat.
Below the statue of the dead creature is a room with the Fingerslayer Blade – this is what Ranni wants. Bring it back to her and she will hand over the Carian Inverted Statue.
Elden Ring: Carian Study Hall
If you haven’t been Carian Study Room is on the eastern rise in Liurnia. You have to approach from the north to get in. Before using the Carian Inverted Statue, remove Preceptor Miriam and her phantom friends from the main hall. She’s a fast woman who is constantly pulling back, so use smart timing spells or good sprints to give her the company.
Beyond her is a Carian Glintstone Staff and the Magic Downpour Sorcery plus a Cerulean Seed Talisman in the rafters. When you’re done, head back to the start of the area.
Elden Ring: Carian Study Hall (reversed)
Place the Carian inverted statue on the pedestal and the entire dungeon is turned upside down. Miriam is back for round two, reverse boogaloo. Hop in the elevator, walk through the hole, get rid of the knuckles of the locals. Miriam will be making herself known on the next platform, so take care of her.
As you progress, you’ll eventually come to another elevator, which hung from the ceiling in the non-inverted version of the tower. Welcome to the Divine Tower of Liurnia.
A Godskin Noble is here, and if you haven’t fought them before, it’s probably a bit of a ghost party. Use your horse and you can outrun him quite easily. You get the full Godskin Noble armor set once he is defeated. Beyond him is the Divine Tower of Liurnia, containing the intelligence accessory Stargazer’s Heirloom and the Cursemark of Death.
Elden Ring: What is the curse sign of death?
Back at the Three Sisters, Ranni is gone, but you can now enter Renna’s Rise. Inside is the Snow Witch armor and a teleport point to a new area of the Ainsel River Well and the Miniature Ranni item next to a chest. Mini Ranni will talk to you at the nearby Grace Site after poking her a few times with the new menu option while you rest.
She will guide you through the rest of the dungeon, giving you information about each Grace along the way and pointing you to an intruder called Baleful Shadow. Defeat it and get the Discarded Palace Key, which will open the chest in Rennala’s room in Liurnia, containing another important item, the Dark Moon Ring. Before going back though, take the elevator down and unlock the lake of Rot.
Elden Ring: Lake Rot
Welcome to hell, Elden Ring style. It’s not as bad as it seems, especially with a few boluses or the Flame, Cleanse Me miracle. Shop around for pressure plates to lift platforms that make the journey easier. There are also several optional enemies, a full boss, and tons of items hanging out.
Once you reach the Grand Cloister you will be in the next area. This is a nasty place (Elden Ring!) but you’re trying to get to the end – sprint or fight, your choice. Here’s a chest to climb into for a quick port to another boss.
Elden Ring: Astel Naturalborn of the Void
Here lies Astel, born of course from the void† He’s not too bad depending on your level and how you feel about fighting huge enemies in Elden Ring. Your favorite battle spirit or just a good plan will help you. Victory brings you the Remembrance of the Naturalborn, which you can trade for Ash of War: Waves of Darkness or the Bastard’s Stars flail at the Roundtable Hold.
Hey, guess what you haven’t done yet – there’s another new area on the way.
Elden Ring: Moonlight Altar
Apart from the natural beauty, Glintstone Dragon Adula will make a meal of you if you are not an expert in dragon fighting at the moment, but you have your horse and attack attacks, we believe in you. Behind him, and outside of the various other enemies in the area, is the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Inside is a large Ranni doll that will give you an end when you come into contact with it. There is also one of the legendary weapons, the Dark Moon Greatsword, nearby.
Finally, back at Ranni’s Rise, there’s a new mini-boss to fight. Sad.
