Social media react when Jess Mauboy suffers from a difficult wardrobe malfunction at Logies

The final of the Logie Awards 2022 didn’t go as planned, because Jessica Mauboy had an unexpected wardrobe malfunction.

Known for her bold and daring red carpet and stage looks, the 32-year-old singer sang her new single automatically to end the night.

She dramatically arrived on stage in a buggy, wearing a PVC catsuit and a red, white and black floor-length coat.

Midway through the song, it was time for the outfit change, and when Mauboy tried to take off her jacket, a backup dancer came to her rescue.

Then came a—very awkward—five seconds in which the dancer tugged at the coat while Mauboy continued to sing effortlessly—a smile plastered on her face.

After the jacket wouldn’t budge, the singer called for the jacket to be picked up again and to continue with her performance.

It was clear that the stage lighting was just too much for the form-fitting suit.

Like a true artist, Mauboy went on with the song, before the night ended with Hamish Blake wins his Gold Logie

After the memorable performance, viewers rushed to Twitter to comment on the accident.

“I remember seeing Michelle Pfeiffer making the catsuit and thinking ‘Gosh I hope she doesn’t have to try and take a trench coat off over those stitches’ and Jessica Mauboy just proved I was right #Lodgings‘ says one user.

“Removing PVC from PVC, treated like a pro,” said another.

“Love the new song, but taking off clothes while singing doesn’t always work, but you went ahead and had a little laugh, loved it,” added a third.

Mauboy’s also had a bold look on the awards show’s red carpet, sporting a black dress with gold “tin foil” details.

The Vote Australia coach paired the look with black gloves, a high ponytail and hoop earrings.

“Dripping in gold for the Lodges,” wrote Mauboy.

One Instagram follower replied that they were “digging the ‘I just fell on tin foil’ look” from Mauboy.
