Crisis at The Block: Traditions down, teams quit and ‘cruel’ conditions are exposed in the new season

The Block Tree Change has been mired in scandal for months, with no trades, stocks, even participants shutting down, and new complaints about “cruel” living conditions.

in classic The block fashion, this latest Change tree season of the successful renovation show promises to be the biggest and most dramatic ever; but this time it might not be too far away.

Not only does the show go on sale and be transported from metro Melbourne to 10-acre blocks in regional Victoria, but it has been embroiled in scandal for months – which has become pretty standard practice for The block in recent years, much to the dismay of many diehard fans.

The 18th season of The block has upped the ante again, but there are fears that the houses will not make the final auction due to a snowball effect – pandemic supply chain problems, trade deficitsand a contestant who quits production (for real this time).

But with the premiere just around the corner and the hype surrounding the ever-popular renovation show, here’s everything we know about the final season of The block so far.

Where will this season be filmed?

After 17 seasons of renovation in metro Melbourne and Sydney, The block tree change goes forest. The Block Tree Change is filmed in Gisborne, Victoria in the picturesque Macedon Ranges.

The area is about a 45-minute drive from Melbourne, and the show’s move to greener pastures follows a growing trend of Australians trading the bustle of city life for a calmer regional lifestyle during and after Covid.

What are the Blockheads Buildings?

The Change tree Blockheads have been commissioned to build luxury mansions on a massive 79-acre site at 207 McGeorge Rd, Gisborne. realestate.com.au reported that the plot of land in the area sold for about $11 million in September 2021 — about ten times the suburb’s $1.08 million average price.

The participants will renovate houses brought into the suburb, including some Queenslander-style buildings that are said to be from the position of the sun. Other structures have been spotted to join the site’s one existing cottage.

There are some familiar and new faces among the contestants, who arrived on set in early April to begin production.

The biggest star confirmed on the show is ex-Neighbors star Sharon Johal, who starred as Dipi Rebecchi from 2017 to May 2021. The trial lawyer turned actor is going to team up with her accountant and business advisor, husband Ankur Dogra.

The Victorians are joined by Gold Coast couple Dylan Adams and Jenny Heath, who were spotted on set and shopping in Melbourne. The veteran innovators own a luxury construction company in Palm Beach and are reportedly building their own homes in the area.

A new male-female team and a male duo were spotted on the spot with the other participants.

Influencer Elle Ferguson and her fiancé ex-AFL player Joel Patfull had joined the production, but put in three days – a Block first.

She posted an Instagram story at Melbourne Airport days after arriving on set with the caption: “Family always comes first”.

Obviously, the couple chose to return home after learning that Patfull’s mother had suffered horrific injuries from a fall — but weeks later, host Scott Cam slammed their exit as “p*ss arm”.

They have been replaced by another team, whose name is not yet known.

There may be a change of scenery and cast, but the big names of The block come back for the Tree Change.

Shelley Craft returns to co-host the show with Cam, and judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker return for the weekly Room Reveals.

And of course, foremen Keith and Dan make sure everyone on site is safe.

In another Block-first will host scott cam and compete.

The Bondi chippy will return to work (on television) for the first time since he appeared on the scene in Backyard Blitz in 2000.

It will be interesting to see if 18 seasons of hosting The block taught him all about building a beautiful multi-million dollar home.

When are the auctions?

No official date for auctions has been announced yet, but based on previous years, November seems to be a possible month.

When will this season of? The block sky?

The premiere date is still a secret, but if we base this season on last year’s record Fans vs Favorites we can see Change tree on our screens in August.
