Arlo Go 2 4G + Wi-Fi Camera Review – Security and Convenience Everywhere – Tech Guide

Arlo already has an excellent range of WiFi cameras and with the Arlo Go 2 4G+ WiFi camera you can now take that quality and convenience with you wherever you go. If you want to keep an eye on everything, the Arlo Go 2 4G + Wi-Fi is the camera for you.

Arlo’s security cameras have always allowed us to keep an eye on our home or business, and now the Arlo Go 2 4G + Wi-Fi means we can take that convenience anywhere because the device can connect to a SIM card.

Places such as construction sites, remote properties, boat docks and vacation homes are just some of the places customers would want to monitor, but the lack of a Wi-Fi network in those locations means a typical security camera cannot be used.

But the Arlo Go 2 isn’t your typical camera.

The Arlo Go 2 has space for a SIM card so it can connect to the cellular network and provide that connection when Wi-Fi isn’t available.

But the good news is that the Arlo Go 2 can also use a Wi-Fi connection if it’s available.

And this just adds even more value to the product.

This means the Arlo Go 2 can be set up like a regular Wi-Fi camera, but in the event of a power outage or natural disaster that would disable Wi-Fi, it can fall back on the cellular network to stay connected and still give you a view of what happens at those times.

The Arlo Go 2 is slightly larger than a regular Arlo camera, meaning it has a larger removable rechargeable battery that lasts for months before needing a recharge.

Users can also purchase an Arlo solar panel and connect it to the camera, meaning it is always charged and always monitored.

Of course, the Arlo Go 2 has a weatherproof design, so it can be placed both indoors and outdoors.

Setup is very easy via the Arlo app and can be configured like a regular Arlo camera – the only difference is the connection to the mobile network.

You can also see the strength of your mobile signal through the app.

One thing we noticed was that we had to do some firmware updates that took longer than we expected, but that could be because of our cellular signal strength at the time.

The update was completed after about half an hour.

But we’ve had no problem accessing the live footage from where we placed our camera in the farthest corner of our property, out of range of our Wi-Fi network.

We mounted the camera so that we could look at the house rather than away from it like our other cameras.

From here you can watch in 1080p Full HD day and night, so you can clearly see the area you’re watching.

And that goes for at night too, thanks to the integrated floodlight and color night vision that makes it easier to identify people and vehicles on your property.

It also has clear two-way audio, so you can not only hear what’s going on, but also talk to people right in front of the camera with smartphone-quality audio.

If you need to escalate things from the Arlo app, you can also activate the siren or set it to go off automatically during an emergency or when motion is detected.

It can also record locally to a micro SD card and to the cloud – users can choose one or both.

The app also allowed us to format the SD card that we had installed in the camera in seconds.

Users get three months of free Arlo Smart – the cloud service that provides up to 30 days of access to your footage, as well as smart notifications that can distinguish between a person, animal, vehicle or package.

The Arlo go to is also easy to manage, even if you have more than one in different locations.

In addition to being able to name each camera so you can see where it is, the camera also has its own built-in GPS so you can see the cameras on a map.

This feature would also come in handy if a brutal thief decides to steal the camera.

Thanks to the GPS positioning, you can give them a nice surprise when you show up to claim your property.

The Arlo Go 2 4G + Wi-Fi costs $429 and is available now.
