Factory backed by Ram Trucks in the US, the TRX sits on top of the Aries 1500 ‘DT’ range in Australia, priced from $199,950 plus on-road costs – $50,000 more than the Limited below it, and more than twice the price of a smaller one Ford Ranger Raptor

Power comes from a 6.2-litre supercharged ‘Hemi’ V8develop 523kW and 882Nm – almost double the 291 kW/556 Nm of a standard Ram 1500 DT V8, or the 292 kW/583 Nm of a Ranger Raptor.

It sends drive to the road, dirt or sand via an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive, capable of a 4.5-second time from 0-100 km/h, a quarter-mile (402 m) from 12 ,9 seconds. 174 km/h and a top speed of 190 km/h.

The supercharged V8 makes the Ram 1500 TRX the most powerful four-door vehicle for sale in Australia, regardless of body style – but also one of the toughest, at more than three tons (3057 kg curbstone, with a sunroof).

While the TRX has been offered locally by independent conversion companies for several months now, the Ram Trucks Australia version is backed by the US factory and sold through official Ram dealers.

The official importer’s only 1500 TRX variant is loaded with most of the features available in overseas markets, with the only option being a full-length panoramic sunroof for $10,000.

The $199,950 plus on-road base price of the Ram Trucks Australia 1500 TRX is comparable to $213,400 for a TRX from converter AusMV (via Queensland’s SCD Remanufactured) – although the latter will require more than $20,000 in options to meet many of the requirements. the list of standard features of the first.

Performance upgrades include 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, electronic rear differential lock, low-range transfer case, adaptive Bilstein coil spring suspension, approximately 375mm front disc brakes, eight riding modes and a ‘Jump Detection’ function that engine and suspension settings in the air.

A trailer hitch, trailer brake controller and a 12-pin cable harness are standard, enabling a braked towing weight of 3500 kg. The gross vehicle weight is estimated at 3800 kg, for a maximum combined mass of 6878 kg.

Standard technical features include LED headlights, a 12-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front electric sports seats, leather and suede upholstery, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, a Harman Kardon sound system with 19 speakers and automatic climate control.

A full range of advanced safety features are standard, including Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Aid, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, plus a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.

However, a digital rear-view mirror, head-up display and a selection of other features available in the US – and on models converted by independent companies – are not fitted to Ram Trucks Australia’s TRX.

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is now in the showrooms of Ram Trucks Australia. The official importer offers a three year/100,000 km warranty and a roadside assistance program, but with service intervals every six months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first.
