“They live in Austin and love it,” an insider reportedly told women’s Day†
“Catherine never imagined that as a bona fide New Yorker she would one day move to Texas, but she’s found she’s a perfect fit, and the slower pace is doing the world good for her husband.”
The publication also understands that the couple would like to start a family.

A family friend told New Idea in 2017 that the couple had secretly married at Catherine’s mother’s home in New York.
†[Matthew] called his parents before the big day and invited them over, but as Bert’s health had been a bit strained in recent months, they decided a long-haul flight to New York might not be a good idea,” the source said at the time.
“This is the best news ever for Bert and Patti… they are so happy for Matthew.”

Matthew, who has a history of addiction, has a remarkably tumultuous past.
This includes allegations of domestic violence from two former girlfriends: Australian actresses Brooke Satchwell, 41, and Rachael Taylor, 37.
He was arrested for the alleged physical assault of former Neighbors star Satchwell in 2006 and pleaded guilty to common assault in court.
Matthew was given a good conduct bond, but the conviction was quashed on grounds of mental health.

In 2010, Matthew’s then-girlfriend Rachael Taylor (left) filed a protective warrant against him for physical, verbal and emotional abuse, and he went to the Northside West Clinic in Sydney for treatment. Together in the picture in 2009

Matthew was also arrested twice in Miami, Florida, in 2012 — the first for trespassing and resisting cops, while a second was charged with battery and resisting arrest after assaulting a hotel receptionist.
After the indictment, Matthew checked into the Betty Ford Center in California for 90 days of alcohol and drug treatment.

Both cases were later dismissed on the condition that Matthew complete community service and write a letter of apology to the hotel clerk.
He was forced to retire from directing the Hollywood film Eve in October 2018 after social media criticized his alleged history of assault.
