Their list includes three centre-backs: Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt. Manchester City forwards Raheem Sterling and Everton’s Richarlison are also on the list, while would-be free agent Ousmane Dembele could opt to sign. French right-back Jonathan Clauss (Lens) has also reportedly been discussed.

Chelsea have prepared a second bid for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, with a deal for their main target, according to multiple reports.

And according to The Telegraph, the club are now looking for a double deal from the Premier League champions, hoping to sign defender Nathan Ake. The Blues need defensive reinforcements following the departures of centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, and Ake is a left-sided defender who can also play as a fullback or a defensive midfielder when needed.

Ake previously spent seven years at Stamford Bridge, left at the age of 22 and is reportedly open to a return.

Chelsea have also entered into talks with Juventus about central defender Matthijs de Ligt – a Dutch team-mate of Ake – but his huge €120 million escape clause is proving problematic.

Juventus are strapped for cash and are trying to sack players to make way for Paul Pogba, who will have the highest pay in the squad.

That could mean De Ligt, who is making around £200,000 a week and on contract until mid-2024, will leave for around €80 million, according to the Daily Mirror.

But Juventus are also reportedly hoping for a player-plus-cash deal, with transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claiming the Blues have offered forward Timo Werner as part of a deal.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are reportedly continuing to negotiate for Sevilla’s Jules Koude – who has been on their wish list for several years – for a deal worth around €60 million.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele’s contract with Barcelona expires on June 30, and the star flyer will make a decision in the coming days. Chelsea are one of several clubs the winger, who has struggled with injuries at the Catalan club over the years, hopes to strip down.

The Blues also want to sign Richarlison from Everton, but the club will have to fight Tottenham for his signature, with Spurs recently making an offer for the Brazilian forward.

And the club are resigned to missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo, with Manchester United declaring the attacker not for sale, despite his agent contacted the Blues last week to discuss a move.

Petr Cech became the last member of Chelsea’s senior management team to leave the club on Monday after a change of ownership.

Long-serving chairman Bruce Buck and executive director Marina Granovskaia also left Stamford Bridge last week in the wake of a takeover of US Todd Boehly’s consortium.

Cech, who won 13 major honors at Chelsea during his goalkeeping career, became the club’s technical and performance advisor when he retired in 2019.

“It has been a huge privilege to take on this role at Chelsea for the past three years,” Cech said in a club statement.

“Now that the club is under new ownership, I feel it is the right time to step aside.

“I am pleased that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners and I am confident in its future success, both on and off the pitch.”

His decision was reportedly the result of Chelsea’s decision to loan record-breaking Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan just a year after he made a move in the opposite direction for £98 million.

Former Manchester City captain Fernandinho has returned to his first club and signed for Athletico Paranaense, the Brazilian club said Monday.

The 37-year-old midfielder, who left City at the end of last season after a nine-year period in England full of trophies, signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.

“It is with great satisfaction that I return home … Knowing that I can apply a little bit of everything I have achieved in Europe in these years,” Fernandinho said at a press conference to reveal his arrival in the southern city of Curitiba .

Born in Parana state, whose capital is Curitiba, Fernandinho began his career with Athletico as a teenager in 2002 before moving to Ukraine to join Shakhtar Donetsk in 2005.

Wales captain Gareth Bale has signed a 12-month contract with Los Angeles FC with options until 2024, the Major League Soccer team announced on Monday.

Bale confirmed his plans on social media over the weekend following his departure from Spanish giant Real Madrid.

“I am extremely excited about this move to LAFC,” said Bale.

“This is the right place for me and my family and the right time in my career and I can’t wait to get started with the team and get ready to win more trophies in Los Angeles.” The 32-year-old attacker, a five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League, spent nine years with Real Madrid.

“Gareth is one of the most dynamic and exciting players of his generation,” said LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington.

Bale was close to a deal with Welsh club Cardiff City, who participate in the second-tier English Championship, and that club has stated that they remain hopeful of signing him within 12 months.
