The man behind the YouTube channel Technoblade shared a tragic final message through his father hours after his death.
The man behind the popular YouTube channel Technoblade has said goodbye to his fans in a tragic final video uploaded by his family after his death.
The 23-year-old’s death was revealed Friday by his father in a video titled “so long nerds”. His channel has 10.7 million subscribers.
For the first time, fans learned that the Minecraft player’s real name was Alex.
He was diagnosed with stage four cancer last year and had undergone intensive treatment for the past 12 months, but took his last breath on June 30.
It was just eight hours after he typed a final message to fans on a laptop, which he asked his father to read.
“Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this, I’m dead. So let’s sit down and have one last conversation. My real name is Alex.
“One of my siblings once called me Dave in a deleted video from 2016. It was one of the most successful pranks we’ve ever made. [There were] thousands of creepy online dudes trying to get overly personal, ‘oh hey Dave, how are you?’
“Sorry to see so much sold out in the last year, but I want to thank everyone who has bought hoodies, stuffed animals and channel memberships. My siblings are going to college! Well, if they want to. I don’t want no peer pressure from a dead brother on exercise them.
“But that’s all mine. Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had 100 more lives, I think every time I would choose to be Technoblade, because those were the happiest years of my life.
“I hope you enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh, and I hope you all have a long, prosperous and happy life because I love you. Technoblade out.”
His father, who cared for the family’s little white dog, told viewers that they’d been talking about doing a “face reveal” for months, but finally left it too late.
Plans to record a video from Alex’s hospital bed didn’t materialize because he had trouble focusing, his father said.
“In the end he said he was going to write it and asked me to read it,” he revealed, adding that even that was becoming too difficult a task for Alex’s deteriorating condition.
“At one point I just got down on my knee by his bed, and I said to him, ‘Alex, you don’t have to do anything else, you’ve done so much for so many people, millions of people. And if you want now, you can rest. But if you want to write one last video and you’re waiting for things to get a little better, I’d say don’t wait. I don’t think it will get any better,” he recalls.
Alex’s father said that his son seemed to be encouraged by what he said, and shortly afterwards he started writing the message.
Through tears, the heartbroken father revealed that his son had passed away just hours later.
“He finished that and then he was done. After that he lived for about eight hours. We all said goodbye,” he said.
“He was the most amazing child anyone could ever ask for. Thank you to all of you for everything, you meant a lot to him.”
A typed message written by Alex’s mother was then displayed on the screen, showing how passionate he had been about making his fans happy.
“We the Technoblade family wanted you all to know how much he adored and respected his fans and colleagues.
“From Technoblade’s earliest online days, he was always inventing ways to surprise and reward his audience,” the statement continued. Even after his eventual successes, he somehow managed to maintain his good-natured humility, rivaling an endearing balance between his confidence and self-deprecation. He avoided personal fame and worked hard to keep his true identity confidential. , and we ask that you respect his wishes to protect his privacy and the privacy of his family.
“Over the past year, our son has gone through many difficult moments as he battled stage 4 cancer. But he didn’t complain and continued to use his famous strategic mind to try and defeat what he knew were near-impossible odds. MY son’s courage on this path was a shining lesson to all of us who were privileged to walk it with him. Thank you for sharing his journey through it all, doing the work he loved for his beloved fans.”
