It was a mixed first day of results for Bartywho paired up with Tottenham star Kane to win their “Greensome” tie.

But the duo lost their four-ball match-up against former baseball pitcher John Smoltz and ex-NBA star JR Smith.

Barty then teamed up with fellow Aussie Ponting, but they lost their four-ball game to former NFL players Reggie Bush and Michael Vick.

The second day of the match will be broadcast around the world and to get your golf fix check out the Icons Series on Fox Sports and Kayo from 4 a.m. (AEST) on Saturday morning.

Barty won the women’s competition at Brookwater Golf and Country Club in the suburbs of Brisbane in April and she plays a handicap of 4.

She has always been a talented golfer and it was just over two years ago when Barty bewildered forest at an exhibition event.

“She has a great swing, are you kidding me?” Woods exclaimed after Barty wedged into Melbourne’s Yarra River ahead of the 2019 Presidents Cup in Royal Melbourne.

Looking back at that moment, Barty confessed that she was extremely nervous with a golf club just feet away from Woods, but that she couldn’t have hit the ball better.

“I hit it too good, really,” she told Fox Sports golf expert Paul Gow in an interview on Fox Sports and Kayo ahead of this weekend’s Icons Series.

“I tried to think too much and the balls were balls that would float, so they were a little different. I just totally thought about it, but absolutely flushed and hit well.

“It was really nice to experience something that really took me out of my comfort zone and to have so many incredible golfers around me. We have some cool shots of photographers behind me hitting a golf ball, which I never expected in my life.

“But a great experience to be able to see them also at Royal Melbourne, one of the most demanding courses in Australia.

“To be able to see how those guys walk around and show what they can do and show how they can adapt. I really enjoyed that from an athletic point of view and from an athlete, but also as a fan and seeing those guys at their best. †

When asked what impressed Woods most, Barty replied, “His longevity, honestly.

“He’s one of the best who’s ever played the game and I think he’s been able to have such a long career, such a successful career and continue fighting, the competitiveness, the attitude he does, without losing that little bit of him.” flair and that real tiger that he is. “He’s got that competitive nature, he’s an absolute beast. I think the way he’s going about it is really impressive and it’s certainly inspired generations to pick up a golf club and try it out and see how it goes.

“When you have those athletes, they’re rare and I think it’s been a real privilege for a lot of people around the world to see him do what he does and really dominated the sport.”

After the first day of the Icons Series, team USA had a 10-5 overall lead over team Rest of the World.
