Neighbors filming concluded last month before the final episode ever aired later this month, and it was an emotional experience to say goodbye to the Australian soap for the cast.
Alan Fletcher, one of the longest-serving actors on Neighbors after playing Karl Kennedy for 28 years, he has admitted that he burst into tears for the last time when the camera rolled.
“It was very hard fighting the tears while we were saying the dialogue for what would be the final moments of the show,” he said. the mirror†
“There were hundreds of people in the studio watching that last bit of filming. We had some speeches, I said a few words. There were some tears. There were some celebrations.”
Numerous former cast members return to Ramsay Street to see the show, including Ian Smith returning this week as Harold Bishop, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan filming a brief cameo.
“One of my favorites was Guy Pearce,” Alan said. “There was not a single person who was asked to do anything before the end, who was available, who said no. Everyone wanted to help.”
The last episode was originally supposed to air on August 1, but now it’s brought forward to the end of this monthwhile Australia broadcast it a day before the UK.
The Australian industry’s relationship with the show is a bit of a controversial issue, with the cast feeling like they were recently ‘disapproved’ by the Logie Awards despite its long legacy†
Neighbors airs weekdays at 1:45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Monday through Thursday at 6:30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
