DOLPHINS OFFERS POACH KNIGHTS STAR
The Dolphins have reportedly increased their bid for Knights star Anthony Milford in a bid to trump a three-year extension offer from Newcastle.
The Daily Telegraph reported that the Dolphins, who initially offered Milford a one-year deal for 2023, are now willing to put two years on the table to lure band five-eighth away from the Knights.
Milford is torn between returning home to Queensland and repaying the trust the Knights have placed in him after he was released by Souths as he fought in court over charges that he has since been cleared of any wrongdoing.
The Knights were considered the directors of Milford’s signature with the added security of a three-year deal.
However, the revised two-year offer from Dolphins could be enough to push Milford back to Queensland to work under his former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.
Bennett has shown great interest in reuniting with Milford following their strong relationship from their time together in Brisbane.
The 27-year-old has scored 70 tries and 369 points in 198 NRL appearances for the Raiders, Broncos and Knights since his debut in 2013 and played two origins for the Maroons and eight Tests for Samoa.
KNIGHTS STAR SET TO EXTEND A STAY IN NEWCASTLE
Tyson Frizell has reportedly told the Newcastle Knights that he will take a player option to stay with the club in 2023.
The Daily Telegraph Frizell, who was on a two-year contract with an option for a third year in 2023, has decided to take the third year of his contract to remain in Newcastle.
The 30-year-old was a squad for the Knights in 2021 but has fallen from his NSW Origin and Kangaroos regular status in his two seasons at Newcastle.
Frizell has dealt with injuries and form problems at Newcastle but has returned to make the Blues first roster in 2022, despite not playing in game one.
Frizell has scored 31 tries in 209 NRL appearances for the Sharks, Dragons and Knights since his 2011 debut, playing 14 origins for the Blues and 19 Tests for Australia and Wales.
BULLDOGS EYE RUGBY SEVENS STAR
The Canterbury Bulldogs have reportedly turned to a former Australian Rugby Sevens star, with interim boss Mick Potter looking to continue the recent change in fortunes on his part.
According to Big sports worldthe Bulldogs have offered a contract to Jeral Skelton.
The 23-year-old is going to finish a season with the Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby, but didn’t get much playing time for the Victorian side.
The Bulldogs offered Skelton a deal after watching his blistering highlight reel and are reportedly set to showcase his skills in the NSW Cup as he looks set to earn a full-time deal with the NRL outfit for the 2023 season and possibly beyond.

Canterbury’s NSW Cup side is third in the standings and just two points behind leaders Penrith Panthers.
Cousin of former Wallaby Will, Skelton is 1.91m tall and played as a flanker for the Rebels.
With such size, Skelton seems likely to fill a gap that is being created in the Bulldogs as they face a severely depleted supply of attackers.
Jack Hetherington has been eliminated for the remainder of the 2022 season and will move to the Newcastle Knights for 2023, while Paul Vaughan prepares to fly to the Super League with Warrington Wolves next season as well.
Luckily for Canterbury, they will get some help next season with Raiders man Ryan Sutton and Panthers star Viliame Kikau to join the club from 2023.
