Bad Bunny did even better, taking the Artist of the Year award midway through a show at Yankee Stadium.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers released new single black summer and their 2002 classic Can not stop before receiving the Global Icon Award.

Bassist Flea delivered the most peculiar acceptance speech of the evening, gushing: “I love cockroaches and soil and trees and every human being… And fish and deer and deer antlers, and birds, and the sky and love. And everything that is not love is cowardice.”

The Kid Laroi was nominated for three categories with his blockbuster single with Justin Bieber, Staybut did not win.

K-pop group Blackpink, including Melbourne-born member Rose, made their US awards show debut with a dance-heavy performance of pink poison and won the best metaverse performance, a new category for virtual performances.
